Creators Can Now Make Affiliate Money From Linking Target Products Through Linktree
Creators are trying to lock in affiliate dollars from gift guides and holiday shopping content, and technology firms want a cut of that revenue.
Linktree, a popular tool that creators use to organize the products they recommend into landing pages that consumers can shop from, has added Target as a retailer that creators can link to—potentially opening up a new source of revenue for creators. Linktree works with more than 35 retailers including Amazon, Free People, Fanatics, Nike, and Savage x Fenty. Users, including creators Kelsey Kotzur and Soo Youn Lee, create shops on their profiles with products from these retailers. Linktree claims that more than 50 million people use its technology.
Creators will make $1 billion from affiliate marketing this year, according to Emarketer. Linktree competes with a growing number of creator affiliate firms like LTK, MagicLinks, and ShopMy. The companies provide linking tools for creators and make money by taking a cut of sales that creators generate from their links.
Linktree said that its commission rates are up to 17% for creators but vary by retailer and products.
